Don’t be the same, be BETA

A lot of change has happened from my pitch. However, I have learnt to not be afraid of change and that failing early and often can only be for the better. Changing platforms has benefited me and has saved me a lot of time.

As I love to visualise, I have set up reminders through the calendar on my laptop, acting as a schedule so I can be reminded to post more. “The more you engage with or create content on Pinterest, the more likely it is that people will find and follow you.” (Pinterest.com, 2021).

Throughout the next couple weeks, I am going to continue to research and draw conclusions about my three concepts. At first, I found the topic of aesthetics in games to be extremely broad, but I followed advice to break it down. Each concept allows me to be informative and educated, rather than just broadly exploring game aesthetics.

My favourite concept is Nostalgia. “Nostalgia emerging from re-experiencing these games might also come with a particular kind of meaningfulness,” (Wulf et al, 2018). Although I am utilising numerous articles which will help me in my final report, the biggest takeaway from this article is that nostalgia, as an experience, evoked by replaying past video games, can significantly contribute to well-being and a sense of social identity. Video games can serve not only as entertainment but also as time machines, bringing not only fun and joy but also well-being and meaning into the lives of players.

It has been so cool to reminisce and look back on past memories that remind me of the freedom associated with childhood.
